General Meeting – Term 1, 2015

Hi!

Thanks to everyone who attended our first meeting of the year (the AGM) and thank you to everyone who nominated for committee positions. Our next meeting (the first General Meeting of the year) is on Tuesday 17th March, at 7pm in the school library.

At the AGM, we successfully filled the majority of our committees, however we are still looking for two member each for the Safety House Sub-Committee and the Grounds Sub-Committee.

The Safety House Scheme is run in primary schools throughout Australia. The function of a Safety House is to provide a safe refuge for school aged children. Safe Houses are identified by a yellow triangular sign on a household letter box. The Safety House Sub-Committee is responsible for promoting the program to parents and students as well as recruiting other Safety Houses in the local area. The sub-committee is responsible for organising the yearly Safety House Show at Rostrata (by booking with Safety House WA) and also runs the Safety House Art competition. If we do not manage to find two parents to run this sub-committee in 2015 then unfortunately the local Safe Houses will no longer be able to participate in the Safety House program.

The Grounds Sub-Committee is responsible for organising busy bees to assist in the maintenance and improvement of the Rostrata Primary School grounds. This can include repaving, putting new sand in playgrounds, planting trees, and anything else that is needed to keep the grounds safe and beautiful. In 2015 we are hoping to work with the school to create a Nature Playground, and having a Grounds committee will be critical to the success of this project.

If you would like to join either of these committees for 2015 then I would urge you to come to our first General Meeting, which is on Tuesday 17th March, at 7pm in the school library. If you cannot make the meeting but would like to help/join a committee, then please email me at president@rostratapandc.org.au.

I look forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday evening.

Cheers,

Tristan Cameron
P&C President
